Plovdiv AGBU’s Theatrical Youth Group Wins 1st Prize in Yerevan-Armenia

The capital Yerevanwas once again the host of the 11th international annual festival of theatrical art, Nran Hadik. This great event took place from October 24 to October 30, 2011. 110 theatrical groups from around the globe applied for the festival but only 35 squads were permitted to actually participate. OurPlovdiv theatrical group with our long time teacher of Armenian language, literature and theatrical art, and AGBU activist Ms. Malvina Manukian was among the blessed ones. This was a historical moment for the Bulgarian-Armenian community because for the first time since 30 years artists fromBulgaria perform inArmenia. Thus, our kids proudly left to their historical motherland under the strict guidance of Ms. Malvina Manukian and the group leader Ms. Verjinia Garabedian (the director of the educational department of AGBU-Plovdiv).

The 35 competing groups were from:Armenia,Bulgaria,Georgia,Iranand Karabah. The other casts were lead by professional and well-established Armenian artists and producers. At the day of our show the hall was crowded and there was a large interest. Among the distinct guests were the Bulgarian Consul inArmenia, the honorary Armenian consul inBulgariaMr. Uzunian, representatives of AGBU Armenia and France, and the former Armenian consul inBulgariaMr. Manasarian. During our play our kids managed to gain the sympathies of the spectators and made them laugh to tears. As a result, on the rewards day we were granted the first place and brought home the golden statue. Also, every single artist was awarded with individual awards leaving them with life-time memories of their youth years and their development at AGBU.

After the spectacle the Bulgarian Consul in Armenian Mr. G. Karastamatov invited us for an official reception where our group leader Ms. Verjinia Garabedian presented a plate of AGBU-Plovdiv.
