On November 26, 2022, Armenian music sounded in the Congress Center of International Fair Plovdiv, and for 120 minutes conveyed all of its emotion to an audience filled with anticipation. The concert of “Erebuni” was organized by AGBU Plovdiv with the assistance of the Municipality of Plovdiv and was held under the motto – 30 years since the restoration of AGBU Plovdiv.
Guests of honor at the event were father Hrach Muradyan, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Church “Surp Kevork”, Mrs. Tamara Ghushchyan – consul at the Embassy of Armenia in Bulgaria, Snezhana Daijanyan, wife of the founder of “Erebuni” – Agop Daijanyan, Mary Chetinyan, daughter of the first head of the “Erebuni” band – Kevork Chetinyan, representatives of the Armenian organizations Dashnaktsutyun, Arax foundation, Homenetmen, HOM and others.
The presenters of the concert – the young people from the dance group “Yerazank” – Stella Todorova and Thomas Dadikozian told the audience about the history of the vocal-instrumental group “Erebuni”, which was created in 1971.
The concert began with the young talent Marina Spasova, who performed the well-known and popular song “Jeirani bes” (Like a doe), which has been in the group’s repertoire since the 70s. This was followed by performances by soloists Hovanes Karaohluyan and Hari Shishmanyan. The applause in the hall hardly seemed to stop.
One of the surprises of the program was Ilin Papazyan, a graduate of the Music Academy in Plovdiv, who participated in the seventh season of “The Voice of Bulgaria”, and also an AGBU scholarship recepient.
The group also expressed its gratitude to the people who have been supporters over the years: Roupen Chavoushian, the Uzunyan family, Vartanyan family, Eduard Arsenyan, AGBU, and “Radoslavov” music store. The concert program featured a beloved vocalist of “Erebuni” – Meri Movsesyan – Kaludova. She arrived in Plovdiv from the city of Burgas, especially for her performance in the concert.
The dance groups “Yerazank” and “Nreni” also presented a greeting by AGBU Plovdiv with the dances “Azgagragan” and “Dzahgepunch”, with choreographer Anjela Veziryan – Natcheva.
The other guest performer was one of the first pianists of “Erebuni” (1974) – Rafi Zhamakordzian, who arrived from Norway especially for the event.
We will remain captivated by this exciting concert for a long time, because of Mary, Ilin, Rafi, Marina, Hovanes and Harry. Also because of the musicians in the group, who remain a pillar: Ardash, Arto, Plamen, Ani, Mihran and Agop. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary concert, “Erebuni” received a congratulatory address from the Deputy Mayor of the “Culture, Archeology and Tourism” Department – Plamen Panov, from the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Bulgaria, from ARF Dashnaktsutyun, from the Chief Commissioner on the issues of the Diaspora in Armenia – Zareh Sinanyan and from the Union of Armenians in Europe, flowers from AGBU Burgas, AGBU Haskovo and other community representatives and friends.
