Holiday festivities on the occasion of Surp Kevork at the Armenian Church in Plovdiv

On September 28, 2025, we celebrated the Feast Day of the Armenian Church “Surp Kevork” in Plovdiv. The festive Divine Liturgy and the blessing of the madagh (traditional sacrificial meal) formed the central part of the religious observances for the occasion. The contribution of all those who assisted in the preparations on the eve of the celebration was invaluable.

The youth of AGBU Plovdiv, together with nearly the entire leadership team, took part in the communal efforts on Saturday, which continued into Sunday. The dancers of the “YAN” Ensemble, along with the enthusiastic participation of young people from Haskovo, uplifted the spirits of the congregation and, through their performance after the Divine Liturgy, once again illuminated our millennia-old history— inseparable from our Church—in the splendor of the Feast Day.

The celebration gained even greater significance with the presence of His Grace Bishop Tatev Hakobyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Romania and Pontif ical Delegate of the Armenian Diocese in Bulgaria; the Very Reverend Father Hrach Muradyan, Vicar of the Armenian Diocese in Bulgaria; the Reverend Father Taniel Karajian, spiritual pastor of the Armenian Church “Surp Kevork” in Plovdiv; as well as the deacons and church choir, who together made the Feast Day a unifying gathering for the Armenians of Plovdiv, as well as guests f rom other cities and abroad.

Happy Feast Day to our 197- year-old Church in Plovdiv!

In honor of the holiday, AGBU Plovdiv organized a charitable bazaar, with proceeds dedicated to supporting future cultural programs that promote Armenian values and inspire the younger generation to preserve their heritage with pride and love. Being part of our Armenian Church’s festive holiday on the occasion of “Surp Kevork” in Plovdiv — a timeless beacon of faith and unity for generations of Armenians, is a privilege and priority for our community.
