AN EXCITING EVENT IS COMING FOR THE PEOPLE OF PLOVDIV

Nora Radoslavova tells us ABOUT THE MOVIE “Winter Song”

Two special screenings of the Armenian film Winter Song, shot in Yerevan in 2025, carry the promise of remaining in the cultural memory of Plovdiv as a symbolic bridge between the city’s vibrant spirit and the richness of Armenian traditions.

Nora Radoslavova, Co-Chairperson of the Plovdiv chapter of the Armenian General Benevolent Union, who currently works at the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs in Yerevan through the iGortz Program, shared her personal impressions of the film and the inspiration behind bringing it closer to audiences in Bulgaria.

“The theme of returning home is a leitmotif not only in Armenian cinema, but also in the lives of many young people from the Diaspora searching for their place in Armenia,” she reflects. “*Winter Song* left me with a sense of lightness, warmth, and a gentle emotional connection to the country. That is what made it truly special for me.”

Her encounter with the film was both spontaneous and memorable. Shortly after arriving in Yerevan in September 2025, the film’s visual identity immediately caught her attention. The image of the two main characters lingered in her mind, prompting her to learn more. Through a colleague from Jordan with whom she works in the iGortz program, she received the distributor’s contact details—an opportunity that quickly grew into a cultural initiative.

“The very first idea that came to me was to connect our community in Plovdiv with the possibility of a screening in Bulgaria,” she explains. “I felt this was a real chance to create something meaningful—to offer our compatriots and friends an evening of contemporary Armenian cinema that brings us emotionally closer to the Fatherland, even from afar.” Thus, what began as a personal impression evolved into a shared cultural experience—one more example of how individual inspiration can transform into a bridge between communities.
