Behind the scenes of history: a meeting of the youth from “YAN” in the first professional theater

In February 2026, the youth from the YAN dance troupe touched the history of the Plovdiv Theater

While theaters in Europe were created by nobles, the Drama Theater “N. O. Masalitinov” – the first professional theater in Bulgaria – was born from the dreams of Plovdiv citizens.

The youth from the YAN dance troupe had the privilege of visiting the theater museum thanks to an initiative between the chapter of the AGBU Plovdiv with the director and deputy director of the Plovdiv Theater – Suzana Harutyunyan-Vasilevska and Todor Darlyanov.

Under the fascinating leadership of Nikola Boev, they immersed themselves in the archives and the magic of the stage, discovering the meaning of cultural continuity.

The touch of costumes and stories that built our national self-confidence was exciting. It was also inspiring behind the scenes: The youth peeked into the Big Stage moments before a performance by Kamen Donev – the same place where four years ago YAN presented their emblematic performance “Two Homes”. Such meetings are a bridge between the past and the future, educating the new generation in a love of art and high spiritual values.
