RUSE

On Friday, February 6, at 7:00 PM, David Yengibaryan—one of the world’s most remarkable contemporary accordionists—performed for the first time before an audience in Ruse.

In the hall of the Armenian Home at 38 Knyaz Al. Dondukov-Korsakov St., the musician unfolded a special program that dissolves the boundaries between genres—from the masterpieces of Bach to the freedom of free jazz, and from the passion of tango nuevo to the deep roots of Armenian and Balkan folklore.

Born in Yerevan in 1976, David Yengibaryan chose Budapest as his creative home in the mid-1990s. There, he built an impressive career, recording music with the elite of the Hungarian instrumental scene, including Gábor JuhászGábor GadóElemér Balázs, and others.”

His global recognition is further enhanced by collaborations with iconic figures such as Frank LondonMatt Darriau, and Tom Walsh. The Bulgarian audience also knows him through his joint work with Boris Kovač, with whom he appeared at the “Alarma Punk Jazz” festival in 2012.

The event was organized with the kind support of the “Angela Chakaryan – 2008” Community CenterAGBU Ruse Chapter with Chairman Dr. Bohos Garzharyan, and the Church Board of the “Surp Asdvadzadzin” Armenian Apostolic Church in Ruse.
